Book Tour '07
Good Times on the Open Road

I embarked on a cross-country adventure in support of my first book and encouraged Americans to MOVE – their minds, bodies and spirits. I wanted to get people up off their butts and involved in their physical fitness, and also their communities.

You can visit the tour blog here or check out the video below summarizing the tour in all its glory:

Before my book came out I'd taken a couple trips to New Orleans and fell in love with the city. So I decided to combine my book tour with efforts to raise money and awareness for the rebuilding of New Orleans. My eight week tour ended with a two week volunteer effort in New Orleans. We had a great time with great people in a great city.

Below are some pictures from our time in New Orleans. If you’ve never been to this great city, go now. And when you do, take the time to venture outside of the French Quarter. Go really see the city, see what it looks like when an entire city is washed away. See what it looks like three years later. There is history happening in New Orleans right now. It is up to us to decide how that history is written.

Me:

My name is Dawn Dais and I am a writer and graphic designer from Sacramento, California. I wrote a book in 2007 about moving your butt (via marathoning) and then I moved my butt around the country to promote it.

Then in 2008 I embarked on another butt-moving adventure, this time on the back of a bike. Again, I chronicled my (mostly humorous) tales for the sake of others' entertainment and education. My new book, "The NonCyclist's Guide to the Century and Other Road Races" is out now and it's fully prepared to inspire you to greatness once again.

The Second Book:

I wrote a book, “The NonCyclist's Guide to the Century and Other Road Races”. It’s funny! It's about the wonderful world of cycling and how you can become a part of that world. Spoiler Alert: that world involves padded shorts.

The First Book:

I wrote a book, “The Nonrunner’s Marathon Guide for Women”. It’s funny! It’s a book about how to train for a marathon if you hate running! It’s also about how I trained for a marathon while hating running. (Other people’s pain is funny, as it turns out.) The book is about taking on something that seems impossible and finding the focus to see it through to the end. It’s also about how many carbs you can eat when you move your butt on a regular basis.
