Every little bit helps.

Monetary, tax-deductible, donations are always welcome and encouraged. I've created a SixDegrees.org badge that allows you to donate to some of the charities we are supporting in New Orleans. They are all doing good work in the city and would welcome your financial support. Scroll down to get more information on each charity featured on my badge.

Rebuild New Orleans Now
http://www.rebuildneworleansnow.org/
Rebuild New Orleans Now is a grass roots organization to help in the rebuilding efforts of a great American city. It is a not-for-profit (501.c.3) company founded by Judi and Frank Newman of New Orleans, and their daughter and her husband, Kathleen and Jon Libman of New York. Frank and Judi Newman currently live in the French Quarter and have lived in New Orleans for over 50 years. They care very much about their city. Rather than focus on primary issues of food, shelter, and clothing that are being handled by organizations such as the American Red Cross or even the United States Government, Rebuild New Orleans Now will make charitable grants for specific purposes related to rebuilding a home or business.

NOLA Hurricane Fund
http://www.nolahurricanefund.org/
The NOLA Hurricane Fund (NHF) was founded by four Tulane University students in response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. Seeking to address both short and long term problems that faced the city of New Orleans, the organization created a three pronged mission: Rescue, Relief and Rebuild.

Having observed the lack of technology access in New Orleans through their work with the sponsored families and schools, NHF began its long term rebuilding efforts in the Spring of 2006. Changing its name to the NOLA Fund to represent a new, forward looking outlook, the organization seeks to increase the opportunities afforded to returning New Orleans students by providing free, after school technology classes. To create a comprehensive program that ensures the continued success of its students, the NOLA Fund actually gives every graduate of its class a computer to take home and keep.

The Phoenix of New Olreans
http://pnola.org/
The Phoenix of New Olreans began after Hurricane Katrina, born from the damage and neglect of an obscure, historically poor downtown neighborhood called TulaneGravier. After the storm, the Phoenix of New Orleans was set-up to be both a neighborhood association and a self-determined sustainable development organization that would plow ahead and rebuild the area and help meet the needs of its neighbors who have little support from FEMA and the city government. The money is the issue and residents/victims are stuck in limbo until something can be done to give confidence that this area will be rebuilt and that it's possible to return to their homes.

New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity
http://www.habitat-nola.org/
New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity is mobilizing for an unprecedented rebuilding effort. In 2007, NOAHH plans on building hundreds of new homes in Orleans, Jefferson, Plaquemines, and St. Bernard Parishes.
